An Evening Of Music

A Musical Tribute To Orcas Island

The Press Release:

Michael Harlow, violinist and graduating high school senior will be joined by musicians he wishes to honor in concert at the Orcas Island Community Church, Friday May 6, at 7:00 PM.  Michael conceived the idea for the concert as a means to “give back to the Island community which has given so much to me”.  Performing with Michael are members of the Orcas High School String Quartet, Paris Wilson, Zach Waage, and Anthony Kaskurs; Orcas School Orchestra Teacher, Pamela Wright; Michael’s music coach and accompanist, Erma Windsor; and featured artist, Master Violinist, Monique Mead.

Michael’s interest in music and a school essay lead him to research the correlation between the study of music and the developing brain’s ability to process information and improve learning skills.  Scientists have found that the study of music supports and enhances the brain’s development and broadens its capability to learn.

Orcas Island is very fortunate to have strong support for It's music program in the schools.  This concert was a “thank you” to all of you, musicians and listeners alike.
